BEAR CUBS RINGETTE PROGRAM
2019-2020_Bear_Cubs_Program_Options.pdf
***Equipment lending program and a 1 to 5 ratio of instruction.***
Bear Cubs is a place for beginning ringette players to develop their skating ability and to become comfortable with the rules and skills needed to play ringette. Girls in Bear Cubs power skate with certified instructors once a week and learn to play ringette with other Bear Cubs once a week.
Girls spend anywhere from 1-2 years in the Bear cubs program before progressing to Rep style ringette. Players in Bear Cubs receive at least 38 hours of ice each season, a team picture and an end of the year banquet.
Often tournament teams are formed from our Bear Cubs players to introduce them to Rep style play. These tournaments are usually in Markham or neighbouring ringette associations and the cost runs from $20-$40 per player. This is optional.

Most big stores such as Canadian Tire, National Sports, Wal-Mart all have start up kits where you can purchase many of these items in a package for about $100.
Ringette cages and sticks are specialized and more difficult to find. In Markham, these items can be found at Hockey Lion (Hwy 7 & Markham Main St.).
The Markham Ringette Association is organized by volunteers. We request your help with coaching a Bear Cubs team, running the score clock, helping with player evaluations, or by joining an executive committee such as fund-raising, or recruiting.
Please inquire about how you can help.
